A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE ORIGIN:
In 1908, on the occasion of the jubilee exhibition for the 25th. On the anniversary of the Swiss Kennel Club (SKG), two short-haired Bernese Mountain Dogs were presented to the great advocate of Swiss Mountain Dogs, Prof. Albert Heim, for evaluation. He recognized in them an old, almost extinct breed – the large shepherd or butcher dog, whose ancestors had been bred and bred as butchers, guard dogs and draught dogs in Central Europe. In 1909 the SKG recognized the breed as a separate breed and entered it in the Swiss Dog Stud Book (Volume 12) In 1912 the “Club of Large Swiss Shepherd Dogs” was founded for the purpose of development and purebred breeding of the breed.
